Plane Crash in Australia Leaves 3 Dead, Including Two Foreign Tourists
According to a report by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation on Wednesday, the plane crashed into the water shortly after taking off from the Thomson Bay area. The aircraft was carrying seven people at the time.
In a press briefing on Wednesday morning, Western Australia Premier Roger Cook confirmed that police divers had recovered the bodies of three victims from the wreckage. Among them were a 65-year-old woman, believed to be a Swiss tourist, and a 60-year-old man, presumed to be from Denmark. The 34-year-old pilot of the plane also lost his life.
Premier Cook expressed his condolences to the families and friends of the victims, saying, "This is undoubtedly a very difficult situation for everyone to accept. On behalf of Western Australia, I want to express that you are in our thoughts and prayers."
He added, "Every Western Australian knows that Rottnest is one of our premier tourist destinations. This tragic incident occurred in front of holidaymakers, including children, who were there to enjoy their vacation. It is incredibly disheartening to have such an event take place in a place where people come to have fun, especially during this time of year."
Provincial Police Commissioner Colonel Blanch stated that authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
