A shocking incident unfolded in the Vasai area of Maharashtra's Palghar district, where a monk associated with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) faced brutal public retaliation after allegations of sexual harassment. Locals accused the monk of repeatedly sending obscene messages, photos, and videos to a female worker at the temple, as well as engaging in other inappropriate behavior.

The victim, employed at the ISKCON temple, reportedly endured such harassment for an extended period. Unable to tolerate the abuse any longer, she confided in her family members, who were outraged upon learning of the monk's behavior. The situation quickly escalated as her family, joined by local residents, confronted the monk. Enraged by his actions, the group physically assaulted him, including beating him with shoes, before handing him over to the police.

A video of the attack has gone viral on social media, igniting widespread criticism across India. Many viewers expressed their disapproval of the monk’s actions and lauded the locals for taking a stand. Prominent critics, including a statement from West Bengal’s Shri Krishna Pal, lambasted figures such as BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari and mainstream Indian media channels like Republic TV, ABP Ananda, and TV9 for their silence on the issue. In a viral video, Pal questioned, “Why are these self-proclaimed protectors of Hindus silent about this incident in Maharashtra? Why are BJP and RSS leaders, who are so vocal about Hindu issues elsewhere, not speaking out against the public beating of an ISKCON monk in a BJP-ruled state?”

Pal further alleged that these organizations and their supporters often exploit incidents in neighboring Bangladesh to stir anti-Muslim sentiments for political gains but fail to address issues involving misconduct within their own community.
