The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has stated that the international community’s failure to stop the ongoing violence in Gaza is contributing to an increase in settler attacks across the occupied West Bank.
This statement, shared on X, follows reports of settler violence in the city of el-Bireh, where several Palestinian vehicles were set on fire by settlers.
The ministry described this assault as part of a broader wave of settler violence across the West Bank, including in occupied Jerusalem, and likened it to the ongoing violence and forced displacement faced by Palestinians in Gaza, which has continued for over a year.
The ministry noted that while some foreign nations have imposed sanctions, settlers “would not have committed such heinous crimes without the protection and immunity granted by the Israeli political leadership.”
It urged the international community to take stronger actions to “hold accountable all entities responsible for encouraging or participating in settler terrorism and systematic land annexation targeting the Palestinian people.”
